I saw the Jars of Love pattern on the internet a few months ago, and I have wanted to make it ever since.
It was designed for the Valentine Quilt Block Series at Thermoweb.
I decided that if I were ever going to make this sweet little block, then I would just have to take the time and do it.
So I did.
A view of the back…just to show that it is all machine appliqued:

Jars of Love Designed by Carla Henton – Creatin’ in the Sticks

Hi Laura! These are just SO darn cute. I love everything about them. The fabric you chose is spot on, and that last picture of the closeup of the heart is just endearing. LOVE them. ~smile~ Roseanne

Thank you, Roseanne! I wish I could say that it was my idea, but I fell in love with the block design…same as you. I think this block would look great in a multitude of color schemes. It was a fun project to do!

This is so cute! I clicked on photos for more detail…looks like you used mostly blanket stitching for the appliques? Very effective and one I can do with my machine, too!
Did you choose the fabrics? Also, wondering: dimensions of finished quilt?
And of course I stand in awe of anyone who does FMQ no matter the size of the piece…
Great job, Laura!

Yes, Laura…that is right…I like the blanket stitch for applique. If I want the stitching to be invisible, then I will use a tiny zig-zag, or a blind hem stitch with a 100 wt. thread, or monopoly.
I chose the fabrics from my scraps. I cut the background about 12-1/2″ and then squared it to about 11″ after quilting. The pattern says it is 10-1/2″ unfinished.
Thanks for the compliments! 🙂 I had fun! 🙂

Thank you so much!
I did have a date with Jack the Ripper when I realized that the tension wasn’t right for my fmq! I should’ve have tested it before I started quilting…I know better. Ha, ha! 🙂

Thank you, Kathy. I have bought a small quilt holder for it, and I am going to display it somewhere in my living room…whenever I get around to painting the living room that is. 🙂

What a lovely design and you have completed it so neatly. Where will you be displaying it? It certainly deserves to be seen 🙂

Painting the living room is on my fall list of things to do. When that is done, I will find a spot in the room to display it. I have already purchased a display hanger for it. 🙂
