Butterfly Garden Update

My April goal was to start a new project, the Butterfly Garden quilt, and get it to the flimsy stage.

I was able to do that, and I have since added borders and fused applique.

The applique still needs to be stitched down.  It blends with the background, so I may choose threads that will create contrast.

Since the borders are a pink and rose fabric, I think I can consider this as an RSC18 project for this month.

But I do have the May Squared Away Sampler blocks for RSC18 on my list to make this month.

May OMG 2018

When you incline to have new clothes, look first well over the old ones, and see if you cannot shift with them another year, either by scouring, mending, or even patching if necessary. Remember, a patch on your coat, and money in your pocket, is better and more creditable, than a writ on your back, and no money to take it off.

Personally, I don’t like to mend clothes, but I’ve done a bit of mending over the years.  And when it is one’s Mom asking for the mending, well…how can one refuse?

So, my goal for May will be to mend the worn elastic in the hem of Mom’s jacket sleeves.

She has also asked me to make purple bowl cozies, similar to those that I showed in a blog post here.

I will be taking advantage of spring days, too, and working in the garden when I can.  The spring blossoms and warm sunshine are irresistible!
